Initially, the core questions of the hearts of little girls and little boys are reviewed: “You know their question,” says John, “so answer it! Little boys need to know they have what it takes, and little girls need to know you delight in them.” Specific ways to answer these core questions are then offered.

Next, the focus shifts to the hearts of older children. Parents of these children are encouraged in the ways they can speak to the hearts of their loved ones. "Until the day he dies, every man will still long for words of affection from his father." The same is true for every woman.

Raising Boys is the third volume in our Conversations with Ransomed Heart series, in which we share with you our journeys as boys who became men and as the fathers of boys. To be a man is a very powerful thing. How to become a man is something most people know little about. There is a passage a boy goes through from boyhood to young manhood. We have initiated events in our sons' lives for this passage, and we share these with you, intending it will be helpful to you as you raise boys.

Our experiences in growing up as boys are also revealed -- the things that both captured our hearts and drove us to deep disappointment. In journeying we've discovered:

All of it is offered with two purposes in mind: to help men "fill in the holes" in their masculine journeys and to help our listeners be more intentional about raising boys into men.

Raising Girls takes us into a very different world--twirling skirts, pretty shoes, tea parties and tree forts. If you have girls or were once a girl, yourself, you will resonate with the experiences of our team--mothers and fathers who have raised or are raising girls.

As moderator, John asks the women to recall childhood memories--their hearts' desires, how they were raised, and how these experiences impacted their hearts. John invites our team fathers to relate what it is like being a father in a feminine world--a world so different from the masculine experience.
